Nicely done! I built the Scout over 50 years ago.  Sterling die cut the parts and even then the die were dull. Nope, the parts did not all fit perfectly, but it still made a fun and effective build. With Internet sources now available, there are literally tons of different versions of her hull that can be built and a lot of aftermarket parts available to dress her up.Your build is almost making me think of... never mind. :embarrassed:

Back on the Scout build today the motor and prop shaft are now in place this took some sorting out new deck sections cut out from thin ply.The first balsa blocks have been fitted on the lower hull these are not a very good fit and will need a lot of work.

The frames seem quite lightweight, looks like those balsa sheets will certainly strengthen up the hull.
Will you epoxy the interior?

The Amrican Scout build is moving on at a steady pace. The bottom hull work is now complete and today the first side skin was fitted. In the pictures you will notice the extra balsa strips fitted this gives more gluing area for the side skins. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

The sheeting and planking on the scout is almost finished so now comes the task of sanding to remove all raised edges.  Most of the inner hul is now glass fibered, the rudder servo is  installed and a slot is cut in the rear bulkhead.  This will allow for the push rod ro enter the balsa block which will be glued in place on the last bulkhead in the future.  When all the hull sanding is completed a coat of resin and tissue will be applied. Note the hull in a vertical postion this helps fitting the rudder. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

The Scout build is now back on track just a few pictures showing the the rudder connection. The stern balsa block had to be cut out to allow free travel of the tiller arm once the balsa block was fitted.Something I have not done for many years make a cardboard template to shape the stern block.👍👍👍👍👍👍

just shows how a silk purse can be constructed from a fifty year old box of c*ap. I know it's far from completion but after seeing the standard of finish on Stan's other creations even without 3D printing and all the other gizmos todays modellers use, an interesting build. Floating on 8th?????

The hull of the Scout is now finished and I have to say it looks good. The next step will be to glass fibre the outside of the hull and when this is finished no other work will be done until after the Blackpool show.  Just a few pictures showing the hull and also the fantail area.  This will be fixed in place using magnets to allow access to the rudder tiller arm. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

As the recipient of a constant audio ear bending on the construction of this 'Thing'  O0 {-)  (NOT a complaint mate), many not so experienced builders may find the attraction of some of the 'Flee bay' 'Attic' or 'Garage' find kits appealing. BE VERY AWARE, wood dries out and plastics become brittle, not to mention zinc diecast fittings that have a propensity, when ageing,  to turn to a grey powder. Even when this kit was new, more than fifty years ago, I still classed it a box of cr*p so any one thinking they can be compared to todays 'Offerings' are in for a rude awakening.
Power to your elbow(s) on this one mate, Are you going to show a photo of the box of s cra*p you've replaced when you've finished?

The updates on the Scout build have been a  little slow, this is due to problems after installimg Windows 11.  A selection of pictures showing the installation of the electrics and the  r/c system.  The kit' s orginal wood parts for the superstructure have now been replaced with plastic card. This is a time consuming job marking out the wood parts on to plastic card.  Please note the the use of masking tape on the plastic card sheet which makes it  easier to draw on and stops the knife slipping while cutting.

Stan....if Win 11 was an upgrade from Win 10, you have 10 days to revert back to Win 10.........[I found this time limit too late]

I did the free upgrade on my upstairs [this] machine & regret this action...... >>:-( ......

[so now have Win 11 upstairs, and Win 10 on the downstairs machine with my printers & scanner.......so two sets of commands/functions
