On my boats I usually have the right stick for left/right rudder, the left stick up/down for the esc.
On a jet drive, with the reverse done with a "bucket" to send the thrust under the boat, which stick is best used for this?

Hi frank,, iv just set up a jet drive on my duck, im using a 4 channel, I use the right stick left-right for steering and the up-down stick to set motor revs which is on a ratchet, and then on the left stick up-down use to operate the bucket for forwards backwards and setting the speed, I dont touch he motor revs just leave them set.
Hope this helps

do you actually need buckets ??, i have a baitboat with a pair of graupner 2345`s, i get enough back thrust just reversing the motors

What if the outlet is above the waterline?
Do these need special servos, are standard ones powerful enough, of will mini/micro servos do?
-
ah your right, mine exit about half way so when shes backing up it draws water from the wedge behind the boat

Ive recently got my Condor 9 set up with twin jet drives on my DX8.
Ive got it set up lef stick throttle and right stick left and right. The buckets are controlled totally independently by the gear and flap switch's.
It doesent exactly spin on the spot but it certainly helps it turn pretty quickly and is far more effective than the rudder controls at low speed.
Going to experiment with running the motors independently for even more control.
