1/96 scale subs
« on: August 04, 2010, 07:39:19 am »

I know that this scale is small for subs, but can you get/make 1/96 scale WW11subs. I build this era in ships and have been  pondering a sub to go with the ships. Some of the stuff here and on U Tube is inspirational  :-)). So for this reason I am thinking of adding a sub to my fleet. Wiil not be for a year or two as have two moe ships to complete,  but you need to research. Thanks, Adrian.

You've asked this question before, so I'll refer you to the answer I gave then.

Apart from a Gato class (and this a hull set only), there is very little WWII stuff in 1/96th scale, because this gives you a very small and fiddly boat to model, and most folk want something a bit bigger and tougher.

Bear in mind that subs tend to get a rough time when compared with surface ships. Fine detail is easily knocked off, even on the larger scales.

There is a lot of stuff available at 1/144th scale, but that is aimed at the static modellers, although some folk like to have a crack at converting them to RC, which is entirely possible with todays miniature equipment.
