« on: April 12, 2015, 06:39:46 pm »

Hi guys and gals....thought i would start the 49 inch perkasa i have had on the shelf for years...is it me or is the glass fibre hull kit awful  >:-o  the hull is all out of shape and most of the wood is warped.so i have replaced the wood deck with 1.5 mm plastic sheet.now thrown what is provided for the rear shelf in the bin and scratch building that and the trim tab from plastic..the bofors gun has also found its way to the bin.i am hoping the rest of the kit isnt as bad or im in for a lot of scratch building >>:-(

HI Mate

Sounds like you have had the kit for a while, the hull straightens out when the deck beams go in, allow for the deck, the deck in styreen works better than ply, takes paint better.

With the big Percasa are you going the twin motor and prop route, shoud have 3 but thats going to be a nightmare.

More photos as you progress.

What scale is the kit Rob? I ask because Italeri and Dragon do good kits of the Bofors in 1:35th. They are land pattern, but the workings are the same, they would just need fitting into naval mounts.
