More flower class corvettes Deans Marine
« on: September 21, 2023, 09:04:11 am »

A Deans marine Flower class frigate H M S Compass Rose from the film, The Cruel Sea.
One of the very early models in the range and a original display model in good condition from 40 years ago and a long working display life.
One of a series built by the late Mike Bond and Alan Miller ( still modelling) team, as review kits for magazines and shown and demonstrated at model boat shows all over the country for many years teaching model techniques to many modellers.

Now due for a clean up and to get her on the water again and filmed, still original shaft and motor, now upgrade to 2,4ghz and new smaller 6 volt Nimh all a bit lighter than the original so better stability with added ballast. Chase all the wildlife that had made a home in her and a good selection of cobweb rigging that was not required, must build more glass cases ?
A spray with wd 40 on the insides and a re-grease and oil of the shaft and away she goes, the original brass prop is now a but fierce for a faster revving motor but I think we will live with it for a while as it is original only once.
Length 973m beam 114mm power by a 6v volt kyte motor  2 channel radio. 3 amp ESC. scale is 1/96.

see her on you tube here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxatbbsTPQ4

attached some pictures of more of mike models converted  to other ships in the class.
