Old Futaba M series R/C
« on: July 08, 2011, 04:56:54 pm »

Hi,

It may be a long shot but could anyone help me find a supplier of the old style male triple exposed pin conector leads for the old M series Ripmax Futaba radio sets.

Also does anyone know where i could get an old reciever repaired/serviced? Does model avionics still trade and repair equipment, if so do any of you helpful people have up to date contact details for them.

Thanks in advance

Hello Ian,

I have 5 of the angled type and one of the straight type, all brand new and yours if you want them.
The wires are about 6 inches long on all of them.

Ian
Model Avionics ceased to trade about 20 years ago. All Futaba servicing is now done c/o Ripmax.

Thanks,

John and Dave  :-))

A question for Action man Dave, Do you think Ripmax would still offer a repair service for such old equipment these days? Or in your experience and and numerous conections know of any one else who may be able to help?

I think the problem lies with the conector pin blocks on two of the three 27 Mhz FM recievers i have, it may be dust contamination in the pin hole causing a bad connection. All three worked perfectly for many years, but I have just recently dug them out of storage to have a play.

Thanks  :-))

Hi, I found the 6 ch. rx a bit of a problem and Model Avionics serviced it but it never really was reliable,  I suppose the dust cores don't stand the test of time? I have the circuit diagram of the rx as well.

BUT I currently use the transmitter a thing of beauty with a couple of Micron 27 M. FM rx's for which I have replaced the servo block and it now runs modern connectors.  27 FM crystals are a bit difficult but I have 3 sets and I rely on them.

I do have some old Futaba servos with the old type connector if you are interested.

Hi Roy,

I agree with you on the TX styling, this is the reason why i wish to use this solid built old bit of kit.
IT was even a consideration stripping the gubbins out of one my Futaba T6EXA 40 Mhz sets and installing them into the two 6 M tranny cases i have.

The new era or radio control equipment is superb for reliability, But who ever designs the transmitters needs to go to spec savers......far to much plastic and light weight feel to them

I would love to addopt your old style servos and give them a new home......any idea how much you would like for them?

Hi Roy,

The parcel came this morning, thanks very much :}

All works very well, I have also managed to find a supplier of the the old Futaba G style cable and plug leads after what seems like weeks of trawling the net!

Hi Ian, glad all arrived OK.  I have an AM M series ("2 x 6 ch.Tx's) that I was going to rebuild but decided that I really don't have the time.
I used to build my own, last one was an FM 27 Meg Micron set, that was a great set although the Tx now has a small fault.  Fortunately the rx's are fine.
It is nice to just fit and forget.
