My battery is connected to the ESC using Spade terminals.
Is it OK to leave them coupled up when the ship is not in use, as I dont want to loosen the terminals by constantly pulling them apart ?

Generally its not a good idea to leave them connected, a switch or removable fuse in the positive side to disconnect the battery. if spades do become loose a gentle squeeze with the pliers restores them to as new.

Hi John, I've used a Tamiya plug and socket for my connection, easily parted and have a similar plug on my charger so I'd get into the habit of disconnecting the battery at the end of a session and switch leads for charging.

       It's not sofisticated but being a newbie I'v used a basic route. Next time I'd probably use a double pole switch with a fly lead to a jack for charging.
 By the way, it's all only what I'm picking from this forum and I'll be watching the thread now as there's nowt the guys on here don't have the best solution and ideas for.

Tamiya type plug for the connection is what you could do with.

If this is a sealed lead-acid battery then you haven't got much choice ref the connectors which fit onto the terminals. I would endorse leaving them permanently on and using a second connector in the two leads which go to the ESC (eg Tamiya or Deans type), along with an in-line fuse and a series-wired ON/OFF switch in the +ve line. You can then disconnect the battery via the Tamiya/Deans type and use a mating plug on your charger.
