finally got all the bits to build my springer bout myself a jig saw finally and found some ply for the building materiel and a geared 540 motor to go in it building shall commence today the lads well exited lol i will add picks as i go

its just what i have lying around the prop shaft and prop are all part of the unit so should work well it all came out of my jetstreem going dawn the cost a little as possible to build using what i have

picks as promised this is going together esiar then i thought it would seen as its my first boat built from a plan and in wood had to get a lot of different tools to work with lol

rudder test fitted

prop tube and moter mount lined up and taked into place

coat of resin applied inside and out as well as prop tube and mount fibreglass into place

Yep A_OK. Go for the 4" square rudder blade. Also my favourite tip , add some bouancy, chunk of polysterene foam bow and stern. don ask

not sure yet want to keep it simple as its a 3 year old going to be handling it so no flimsy bits

Think that should be 4 square inch i.e.2x2
4 inches square would be a tad large!!

Mine are held on with an elstic band attached to the superstructure and the hull.

got a lot done today its coming along very fast should be ready in time to sail on Sunday no doubt it will be put to use bringing the staled ic boats in and the lad will really get some enjoyment out of it

Coming along nicely gwa84..

One word of advice though... go for the 2x 6v SLA batteries rather than the 'car' type battery packs.. With those packs your boat will sit VERY high in the water and need lots of lead to get it down to the waterline..
Also has the added advantage of a longer run time..

thanks for the reply i would have used sla's but money wont permit it at the moment so will have to ballast it dawn just using all the spear parts i have lying around for naw more pick for ya the lads loving it he wants it pirate so pirate he will get

. Half bricks or (2X 1/4) are cheaper and easier to find and safer than lead for ballast.

I think you could do with reducing the top weight too. Fret out windows on the wheel-house, good for cooling to if you dont glaze them. Hope that isnt a mast, too tall, make it an exhaust stack. Your "box" over the deck opening sides could be reduced a bit to allow the hatch cover sides to sit on the deck . All reducing top heavy-ness. Plenty of pirate figures in charity shops and little friend`s toy boxes I`ve found.

. Use spare bit from mast to make a couple of cannons ! Copper pipe scraps from plumber good for cannons too, while you are down there scrounging for lead he he, take the kid. They cant resist a bonnie child

Not sure about the push-knees being so long under the waterline.

thanks for the input she is finished ready for the water i will have to see haw she sails and modify if nessesery tomorrow hope she douse ok plenty of things to ad at a later date ive float tested her in the bath and she feels stable and not top heavy i was thinking the pushers needed cutting dawn but to late to do it naw

sorry haven't replied in a while finally got her out on the water but theirs some problems

she runs fine till you apply over half throttle then she cuts if you back of the stick for a few seconds she goas agen then stops a few seconds after theirs a 30 amp speed controller a 540 moter and she is running on 2 7.2 volt buggy packs ive tried several different packs and a different speed controller the moter was fine when running in a buggy its baffling me as to why it keeps stopping eny ideas

Getting too hot maybe, I have one and I use a dry cell 6V it get's too hot and more or less stops.

If that is the trouble watercooling the motor might help. Cutting the wheelhouse windows out would give some airflow below decks.
