Alan Henning the British hostage held by ISIS has been murdered by them today , words fail me as to how anyone can hold on to medieval beliefs especially on killing people by beheading.

Let us all remember Alan as the compassionate man he was and hope that these murderers find themselves toe to toe with the SAS/SBS on a cold dark night....

There was an interesting item on Radio Four 'Feedback' program today, it was talking about
how presenting the news is so hard these days, much of the audience has become calcified
to bad news and therefore detached. Many have a sense of frustration, impotence and
separation, ie, "it looks terrible but happening somewhere else & doesn't affect me today".

The Warthog's main claim to fame is its massive Gatling gun.
Wikipedia: The A-10 was designed around the 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon that is its primary armament and the heaviest automatic cannon mounted on an aircraft.
I suspect that is what might be used to ~~cheer up~~ pulverise the IS people.

Think the A-10's were taken out of frontline squadrons but kept flying in the Air National Guard so there should be quite a few still in full frontline condition with experienced pilots to fly them... ISIS meet the 30mm milk bottle sized supersonic high explosive "bullet" that will arrange your meeting with your "god" that you seem to crave so much

... a good friend was conscripted & ended as an OZ NASO medic in Viet Nam.......he died of multiple cancers in all of his vital organs about 18 months ago....

Yes , the Bullet is a bit more directional, Agent Orange is not fussy, as is I suppose any toxin, and surprisingly no Government (as far as I am aware will admit any connection to Illness).

Our new Australian Governor General ...was also a military man....[an Army Major in Viet Nam] ...he is apparently very alive & well

Have never met this.... now Sir Peter Cosgrove, however from all reports...those who served under him in that period had the greatest respect for him................

There was an entry on Wiki that in September 2014 the 122th fighter wing would be deploying to the Middle East
with 12 of the Units 21 A-10s so they are obviously still around and kicking ass. Apparently about 42 of them have had
new wings made by Boeing to keep them operational till about 2035 - then in the next breath they are threatening to
scrap them all. I think the decision is to keep all the modernised a/c and scrap the rest.
The trip to the Mid east has been planned about a year but just happened to coincide with the air strikes.
