2.4 Rx and power cables
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:29:22 pm »

How sensitive are 2.4 Rxs to 12v power cables? I want to get various bits of electrical control gear and the RX in a box (with cooling fan!), in order to keep the wires to/from the RX short and neat. However I wondered if I'd have to mount the RX some way away from power cables to and from the ESC.

One of the major selling points of 2.4GHz is its almost total immunity to airborne interference.  As long as the RX aerial(s) are above the waterline and not hiding behind an RF shield, and the wiring is basically sound (i.e. no questionable connections) there should be no problems.

TVM. Am now playing jigsaws with the bits in a box trying to work out the best run for power cables which is not neesarily the best run for Rx links to all the bits. Will post a photo when it works - will have to test with screw connections and then replace with soldered ones one by one until all is neat and working. I like building model boats - IMHO playing with them is not nearly so much fun as solving the problems. However I am aware others think differently.
