Fairey Huntsman Military Version
« on: January 05, 2013, 10:02:06 am »

I am restoring a 34'' Fairey Huntsman with a fast electric set up.  I want to do something a bit different such as a Military or Coast Guard varient.  I am looking for photos, sketches, basic plans and colour schemes.  Can any one help?

The only Navy use I can recall is on the County Class Guided Missile Destroyers (GMD), as the Captains barge in the '60's . . . colour ?  that'll be GREY  {-)

the main vessel used by the captains launch was the huntress , which was a much smaller boat at only 23 ft loa and only had a single engine ,  the huntsman 31 was later remoulded in grp to become the spearfish ( civilian open cockpit version ) and spear with its enclosed wheelhouse , this vessel was sold to both the military and police forces ,

Although not a Military or Coast Guard variant, if you want something 'a bit' different, have a look at the two Huntman's (& Huntress') which chase James Bond in "From Russia With Love".

If you find the clip, you will also see that, 007's boat changes from a Huntress to a Huntsman, and back to a Huntress again. Unfortunately, it's a continuity fail, not another amazing gadget?!

Now that's more like it . . . . I built an Aerokits 32" huntsman in '76 & it's still going strong . . .

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Copied the paint job off the 'baddies' boat , couldn't get a Walter Gotell figure tho' , settled for Emerson Fittipaldi instead . . .
I've posted some build pix on the Wallasey model boat club website under 'other boats' AEROKITS HUNTSMAN of the various engin / radio setups to date  you dont need to sign up to view . . .
