Graupner PT109 or S100 - Anyone got one yet?
« on: May 25, 2007, 12:46:19 pm »

I had occasion to go over and see A Model World earlier today, with a view to giving one or two of their ARTRs a once over. I must admit that I was impressed by the build standard and quality of both the ships I looked over - Smit Rotterdam and the Prinz Eugen. My interest being in smaller Naval/military patrol boats, I enquired after the PT 109 and the S100, only to be told 'we're out of stock and we've sold absolutely loads of them - but we can put your name down for one of the next batch'. My name's down now :)

So the question is: Has anyone here got a Graupner S100 or PT109? If so what do you think of it/them? What battery/esc system are you using?

Thanks,

-Rob

Hi there
One of my club members have just bought model of the S100.
I had a look I felt it was a well detailed model, on the water it looked the part BUT.....
when you go into a hard turn to starboard it jams in this postion when you try to come out of the turn luckily it was spotted before
it was put in the water and resolved by adding a piece of plastic to the right hand servo horn (it becomes clear when you look at it instead of me describing it) it is not a big problem but for the money your paying it should not be happening! this maybe a one off but it should be checked prior to being sent out for selling.

just to let you know the PT109 will be 3 weeks I have spoke with Graupner and as well as the S Boot they are all on there way direct to us we should then  have enough stock to meet all orders.
As regards the steering all ours come with a set of control linkages so you can change the tiller arm type connectors and avoid using bent wire which is as you rightly say cr** for the money hence we include the different set
Incidentally to answer several at once if I may all our boats of this nature are shipped flat to us and then onto you flat thus avoiding any damage

Without wishing to appear to be an AMW fanboy(!) I was present at the very beginning of a pre-delivery inspection of a Rotterdam and Prinz Eugen, the cases from Graupner were opened before me..... The models inside were *completely* undamaged, so AMW's handling system seems to be working very well indeed.

Thnks for the replies and notes so far chaps, keep 'em coming! :)

We have only ever had one damaged and soon learnt the lesson so if it was pointy's we did sort him out happily I seem to remember (but i didn't think it was his)  and that was the first and last time hence adopting this method of shipment from then on in
