Looking for a Glynn Guest Plan
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:12:33 am »

 Hello

I am looking for a Glynn Guest plan and article for his USN WWII escort carrier in 1/144. I believe it is the casablanca class? The one that captured U505 and there is a picture of it towing the German submarine.

I would like to get a copy of the plan and if there is a copy of the build article, that would be great! the plan and article were published in 2010 BUT I tried several times to email the UK company that sells Glynn Guest`s plans plus others BUT they NEVER returned any of my emails. I guess they don`t bother with Canadians.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks
George

George, I think the plan you are looking for is the USS Bodega Bay, a Casablanca class Escort carrier, designed by Glynn Guest. It is available from MyHobbyStore here http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/18178/magm2010-uss-bodega-bay-plan. Perhaps you have already tried to contact them, but I have always had a good response from them, and have had several plans posted to me here in Australia.

Hi George,
I have a copy of Bodega bay plans in my hand. PM me if you'd like them posted - plan only no editorial. Postage conditional on an equivalent donation to your local equivalent of the RNLI or a children's hospice. It just shows how quickly you can find things when they are organised - and the narrow boat plans I thought I'd lost were with them too! More e-mails to send!
Regards,
Toby

 Hi Mr. Fitness

Thanks for the reply. I don`t understand it, that is the exact website I have emailed 4 times on their own contact section. After a few months have passed and I still can`t even get a reply from them. I don`t understand it, you get items from them, a person in the U.S get items from them and of course people in the U.K BUT I can`t even get a reply from them.

HI George,

It is very frustrating to be ignored, but I can't imagine why MyHobbyStore would discriminate against Canadians, one would think that business is business, wherever it originates from. I do know that there were some issues regarded poor communication some time back, but I thought that had been resolved. I assume you have tried emailing them on this address?customer.services@myhobbystore.com

What you have to understand George is that like all other cottage industries, MHS has not been hit with the efficiency stick. Steam power has only recently given way to electrikery so the new e-mail reply system could cause a confusion of which buttons to press. Suffice to say that now Wimpledon has finished, the backlog may reduce. Errrrrr, sorry, the tests are about to start, November OK? (2027 that is)  %)

Maybe your emails are simply not getting through for some reason. But you don't need to email them now given the offer above from Tobyker.
From a quick look I can't see Bodega Bay in any of my 2010 issues but if it was published since 2009 you should be able to track it down here: http://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/browse.asp?at=215&p=1
Then you can check on the MyHobbyStore site if back issues are still available or perhaps someone on here will kindly scan it for you.
