Waveney Class Lifeboat 44-010
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:16:49 pm »

Hello All

I am currently building a Waveney Class Lifeboat 44-010 (Thomas Forehead and Mary Rowse II).  However, having scoured the internet and all lifeboat books including the Nicholas Leach (Waveney Lifeboats) There are very few pictures.

The real problem is the Numbering, insignia, name etc as this particular boat seems to be slightly different from the rest.
Any pics or advise most welcome

A quick google images search using 'Lifeboat 44-010" produces some pictures. How about this one?

Thanks Charlie.

Have got this one but as you will see it has RNLI emblem on bow and it is not clear whether the name is on the aft cabin.  Other pics show no emblem and name.  It appears that as the boat went through lif it changed.  Thanks for your help. muchappreciated.

Lifeboat Livery is/was always changing, Bunzle, and you have to decide absolutely, whether you are going to build it to how you want it to look, (after all it is your model......not others) or whether you are going to build it to please the "rivet counters" of this world.

Personally I build my models to please ME, not others, and even though they (rivet counters ) moan and groan...........I don't care or give a flying fig...................I build to please myself.............and if YOU feel that at one stage in her life she could have had both emblems (corporate logos) AND  name on the aft cabin at the same time, then you put them on, and tell the rivet counters........."if you can build better, go away and show me..............." they soon get fed up of moaning and don't bother coming back..........I know from experience.

Either ask them to put up and prove their prejudices and theories..........they usually can't!!!..........or shut up

Thanks Neil.
I have always built my boats to please me, you can have no fear of that.  I only want to set my own mind at rest in that just about every pic I have found of 44-010 is different so no matter on what I decide I am happy with.  The only certainty is that she will always be flying the Cornish Flag.  Thanks for your comments and I am certainly no rivet counter although I know a few!!!

Bob,
as soon as I have time,I will look through the few photos I have of her. When you say you have looked at Nicholas Leach book,is this the one on the Waveneys? If so ,I think you will find some good ones of her under another of his books "Fowey Lifeboats" keep that Cornish flag flying! whereabouts are you?

Hello Mick F
Yes it is the book on the Waveneys and whilst I can find a fair few pictures of other vessels on line 44-010 seems to be missing.
I am originally from St Austell but having spent my life in the RAF am now residing in Yorkshire.  Still have family down there though and visit when I can.
Any pics you find would be most welcome and there is no rush as I am just about to start but thought I would put out feelers for research so I am ready when I get to the painting, insignia, numbering stage, etc.
