Just to add my thoughts.
Many thanks to the local club, once again you were magnificent and made it possible.
The same must go to Martin who was actually able to hand over the reins to the steering group (pun intended).
And of course a big thank you to the members who turned up including the usual suspects!!!

Big apologies to Stavros, having now seen the video "A look at the weekend from the water!".

At 7:25 into the video there is undeniable proof that "Vital Byte 10" did in fact collide with his boat and dislodge the boat's camera. Stavros did show me the marks on his hull, but I can't see any corresponding mark on my hull unless it was the brass prow that caused the marks. I didn't realise he had a camera on board!

I can't believe the speed that the steam launch was shifting; at a distance it is hard to judge (including distance to other craft!).

Thanks Stavros for such a splendid view of the event; can you post some details on the camera kit, it certainly adds some drama to model boating.

Ian.

Back from another fantastic weekend and would like to thank the usual suspects, Martin,  Phil (honest! We did try to look after him Steph, it was that soft ground that made him walk funny),  Stav, Klunk(The Erector), BillD203, Jay Dee (The Explorer) going to get you a compass so you can find your way back to your tent mate,Kelly and the "bairn" Ruth and Gina, the guys from Wicksteed and all the others who worked hard to make this one of the most enjoyable events of the year.

It was nice to meet new friends and hope to see you all again at 2015 Mayhem bash.

Well it took a bit longer to rebuild my Dads van from tent/boat transporter to van than we expected- didn't help not waking up earlier and the alcohol consumption the night before!

I would like to thank Martin, Ruth, and Gina for thir epic manning of the tea tent during the famous squall and their excellent facilities especially during the Sunday, the bacon sandwiches were worth the wait!

A big thank you to Stavros, Klunk, Steamboatphil and BillD203 for their overwhelming support and never ending smiles over the weekend especially during perhaps some of the worst weather we have ever experienced at any of the Mayhem weekends.

I would like to extend my thanks to Ron Dean, and Andy and Debbie Griggs for their continuous support both as traders and friends.

Another thank you to Capt Povey (Graham) for allowing me the privilege of sailing his Caesar and Scout cruiser, I certainly enjoyed sailing with you, and the other Predreadnoughts and cruisers.

I think I had never seen Ron Dean so happy to see that many Victorian era warships sailing together, a big round of applause to Capt Povey, Victorian, Geoff, TonyH, Chuffy, and Tony Newstead for displaying their boats in one of the biggest gatherings of 19th century warships in a long time. A bigger gathering is being planned for next year!

The fantastic display by Ian McCaffrey and Carl was very impressive and look forward to seeing their future displays- well done lads, I was presented by Klunk a piece of wreckage to remind me of the time I spent in the Falklands. :-))

I don't think I've seen so much alcohol drunk by the Scottish lads, JayDee and Phil, well judging by the picture shown to me by Gingyer it looked pretty impressive!

Thank you to everyone who displayed, bought a boat along, visited, and helped this year, I think it was well worth the effort and it was great to meet up with old friends and new ones, here's to next year! :-))

And finally, I would like to say thank you to Brian (html). Whilst he couldn't make it to the weekend he was the driving force behind the organisation of the steering committee from November last year and it was unfortunate he couldn't attend.

Well Well Well where on Earth do I start

We arrived on thursday and we went to set up the caravan and put up the awning afterwards we were going to pop down to see the lads at the lake............We only just got the awning up when to say the heavens opened was an understatment..........thunder WOW rain WOW.......funny thing the lads wernt at the lake....I WONDER WHY.

Phil was allready at the camp site when we arrived back from raiding the local shops,so a chat ensued and we wnt for  awalk to look around the lake etc etc etc and consume a few beers...........Steph HE BEHAVED

Friday dawned dry and bright so Phil and myself had off loaded our stuff by 830 am at the lake side and went shopping etc..then it was back to the lake to set up Tea Tent Our Gazeebo's and the straight running course and the steering course ready for Sat........Nige and Elaine arrived on fri so we decided to aev a chineese as it was raining....OH and a few beers with our Scotish friends, and the rest of the Mayhemers.
Well one of the jobs we had to perform was to TOW Phils Disco as it ha ddecided to chew the starter motor so the good old Audi was pressed into servic eto get him going.....So off we wnet to the campsite...So Phil parked it by his caravan...BIG MISTAKE as we had a SOS Ron Dean was stuck in th emud so to speak So tow Phil yet again and go and rescue Ron...That Mission was soon aco, plished and Phil was WARNED park it at top of hill on campsite !!!!!!!!

Sat dawned Slightly DAMP but not our spirits,so lets get sailing and rescuing etc etc........and creating havoc,,,,,nothing new there  !!!!!!!......Well Phil decided to do some straight running so I was sent to the other end of the course to catch his boat.Phil being so ENGROSSED in his boat ddint notice ME trying to tell him |RAIN WIND on it way so mid run his face DROPPED when he realise dthe rain was dropping and signalled to me send it back.Never have I ran 100mtrs so fast to tear down the gazeebo backs to let the wind...NAH HURRIICANE thru .Boy was we lucky we got away with it...NOT so lucky were the Peterborough lads whose Gazeebo ended up on the train tracks or the Rnli who also lost their Gazeebo's....The tea tent just about survived.

Sat night well you can guess the rest..................We defo need to get Jaydee a sat nav as he couldnt find his tent....Nothing of course to do with the falling down water the lads gave him  O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0
Ian YOU got away LIGHTLY

Sunday well what a difference 24 hrs make.......Blue skies and SUNSHINE

Oh yes Phil and myself eventually got back to the campsite at 630 after taking tea tent and everything down !!!!!

What an enjoyable weekend, even if the sky did open up a few times and experiencing the monsoon late Saturday, just as I finally got dry from the day's drenching ... so glad I invested in a better tent this year  :-))

Good to meet forum members again and to also bring my partially finished huntsman for a bit of a play, I might have it finished for next year's ;)

Ian, how the hell you recognised me from my West Wales MB group "crazy" picture in the dark I never know, good to meet you. Thanks to Klunk for helping Elaine put the tent up, the Scottish lads for the Whisky sampling and to everyone for their friendliness. Also, thanks to Stav, Kelly and Catherine for entertaining us.

Elaine (newly added forum member: Waternymph) took a few pics so I'll post them up soon.

Oh, I think she's caught the bug, looking for a project herself ... I think I'm about to lose space in the new workshop >:-o
