hi, im using a planet t5 for my tug, i want to run a water pump to cool the brushless esc's  but id like to be able to turn it on and off when i need to.i wired a brushed esc to the graupner water pump so i wasnt getting the full 12v so the flow was slower through the esc's....i tried hooking the esc to the 5th channel but it wouldnt turn off.....id like to run the pump off the 5th channel switch..any ideas how to do this??

Very Easy one what you need is as follows
 
1 x ACTion switcher plug into reciever and wire up to work the pump

  are there any cheaper options? for £33 im happier pulling the boat into the bank and placing a crocadile clip on the battery

P91 needs a channel with a neutral stick or switch position. Channel 5 on a T5 is only a 2-way switch so won't do the job. Possibly a P43 will work (and it's much cheaper), but you need to measure the current drawn by the motor under load i.e. while the pump is pumping. If it's less than 3A you're OK.

I use the following method to operate items from the 5th channel. Link in a servo to a micro switch (use glue to hold them together, use a piece of timber/plastic to get correct spacing). Use a round servo 'arm' with a flat cut into it. Check that with the switch off, the flat is nearest the micro switch, when you flick the switch to the on position the servo will rotate and operate the micro switch, turning on the pump. Turning off the switch will send the servo back to the off position. I am assuming that you would have room for a smaller voltage battery pack to give you your lower delivery rate from the pump.

perfect...........................have sevo and a battery pack will go maplins and get a switch...........thanks chaps

Thank you very much, just what I was looking for to operate a pump to cool my motors, they get very hot.
