That is what I am getting now but it wasn't what I was getting earlier. Do you get more than 20?

If I up the search period I still get only 20 & they are still the oldest 20.

These are the same results that you get if you use the search between help & profile above & set the time period to 9999 days.,

I am afraid that isn't the answer. I now get 50 results but they are still the oldest dating back to 2006 and the basic top left search button is now the same as the top right search box.

If I click advanced search I still get 50 dating forward from the maximum time that I set.

This does not include the most up to date results because there are more than 50 results found.

If in Advanced Search I reduce the time period to 100 days it then brings up all the results within the last 100 days including the most up to date ones.

I don't know what changed but there used to be as many pages of results as the search needed but now 0ne page of 50 (was 20) seems to be all that you can get.

It's not an 'infinity' search as the server would blow up under the strain of the search weights!
This ain't no Google you know!!!!

Hmmm I wonder if Google 'site search' can be incorporated into the Forum.... let me do some digging around...!

I appreciate that but surely it is the wrong way round. What you get elsewhere is the most up to date results with a cut off point but what you get here is the oldest possible results - if you use the search box or the search button that is nothing less than around 9 years out of date for "thruster" which cannot be the most used word on the forum. As the forum progresses the results will always remain exactly the same and will just become more & more historic. In 2050 they will still be getting the same 50 results!!!!

The only way that you can then find all the results is to count how many days old the last result you were given is and then put that into advanced search to get the next batch. Repeat as many times as necessary to get to the current day.

To get the latest results you have to go into advanced search and take a guess regarding how many days old will give you the 50th result back from the latest.

PM sent but I have found the answer!

This has happened on both my computers so I don't think that it is me but in the advanced search box there is a box for search order which is set by default to oldest first. If I change that to newest first I get the latest results!!!

Unfortunately

the default for either of the basic search facilities (button or box) is oldest first. Can you change it because as a user I cannot?
