I'm just checking whether it's a problem with my laptop and doing a full scan as mayhem is whitelisted still (the website and the forum).
The error message says...
SSL_ERROR__RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG
Then says the authenticity of the received data could not be verified, then, contact the website owners to inform them of the problem.

1. Just for gaps-'n-giggles, clear you browser cache & retry.

2. Try a different browser or device.


 NB:   I use Glarysoft utilities & Malwarebytes & Malware hunter, used them for decades & there still free versions available.

I run Malwarebytes on two machines... not a problem.
 Same on my work Laptops nothing reported & they have industrial AV protection....

PS. Growing up on apple mackintoshes ruined my opinion of them for life. The only good thing I see of anything with an apple logo is an amazing and faultless sales pitch!

Already scrubbed all the cookies, cache etc -done it loads. Deleted and re-made the whitelist (I only have mayhem on it!).


I won't change browser, learned Firefox is the best after loads of troubles with others over the years.  Pretty much the same for malwarebytes.


Only thing that consistently gives trouble is shipspotting.com but I've just learnt to ignore that website and not try to go there.


I'll have to dig more into that weblink before.  Try and decipher what they are on about.

Just realised that weblink would be in the email notification. So had a good read through rather than on the phone (robot based rather than fruity). Pfff. I,'ll just wait and see if next rollout of some update fixes it. Just typical timing. I actually have something finished and ready to share!

Something weird going on. I could open the forum again early this morning. Great.  Just went to try and load a post tonight though (and also donate) and bing -same block again now!

I agree ..... but I still have Chrome, Opera Edge & internet Explorer installed to  have alternatives to check & test things.

( If you're using Windows 10, you do  Edge & internet Explorer installed already! )

One very strong advantage of Chrome, for me living overseas, is that you can set it to automatically translate pages into English. I find this especially useful for online shopping from sites in China.
It is also useful for reading news and magazine articles written in a second language. This may be useful for modelers who follow the Polish or French (for example) model boat forums.
This ability to auto translate outweighs the disadvantages of Chrome, for me, and believe me when I say that where I live, Google services are severely hobbled.

Yes, I was getting a few #]...-* ^>} digit representation instead of the emoticon image in the preview 'view' in another Thread, so hence just tried a  slab of them


Obviously it was just a glitch, and not related to Chrome or IE.....which I still prefer over the others

I think it's my malwarebytes that's wobbly. It'll let me in once in a blue moon. Let me in other morning, nothing since then OK about 30mins ago so just started a build thread OK, hit preview and blocked again.


PS good point earlier about chrome. Have to use it on works laptop and since I work from abroad I've set it to auto-translate. Only thing that goes very wonky is Google translate where it's converting double and often comes up with utter garbage! I have to remember to change it back to not auto translate sometimes.  My android phone offers auto translation on websites also. Very handy.




....is internet explorer even a thing these days?  I was getting viruses through it so stopped using it donkeys ago.  I thought it was replaced with edge which just seems absolutely useless.

LoL, I can make a test post then get blocked straight after. Did you move a post from the working vessels section? I tried a test in there but it's not there now?  Worked OK then went to post a quote of that and back to blocked again!  It's very strange, never encountered anything quite like this before.

...will try again tomorrow as there's no rhyme nor reason for the continued blocking but one or two passes through.  Can't find anything amiss.  It's just this one website malwarebytes has issues with.

Just an idea
Maybe buy a cheapo old bag of crap device just for internet browsing with no personal information onboard to require malware  or any other interfering programmes
