Yep got it.
Just fed up with whiners today.
but as i say, it is a means to an end. Not everyone likes fb not everyone likes forums. Simple.  Just don't need a whole thread going on about why people don't like this or that. No one has to join.
Ps I very rarely drunk coffee,  but I am tired and grumpy. Must be learning it from others on here!!! Lol

Obviously Marmite  :}
Larry
Do try to understand........

The Marmite Question is "Do you like Marmite?"

The answer has to be either "Yes" or "No" - unless you're Australian - or the curate.

Pete
You really need some Marmite-on-toast to cheer you up - or not, as the case may be.

Oh we're not going for that old political maxim that there are billions of people in this world,
if there were you wouldn't meet someone from your road every time you go on holiday !!

Love marmite. ....and bovril!  And potted beef jugged hare. Pheasant and venison pie, veal and pie and mash with liquor (but not jellied or stewed ells...yuk)
Other than that I'm normally happy.
P's forgot to ask how's the fingers now? ??

P's forgot to ask how's the fingers now? ??
That was four or five years ago.
The top of the LH ring finger was badly crushed above the joint and is still very slightly numb. Fortunately it's not one I use much these days; like my left eye, it's mainly ornamental.
As for Marmite - see what I mean? You love it while I hate the thought of even opening a jar of it. Perhaps that's because my sister liked it, so naturally I couldn't possibly, could I?
Speaking of which, why is parsley sauce called 'liquor' when it's served with pie and mash and yet not with anything else? Life is full of little mysteries like that.

Real liquor is made like parsley sauce but with water from the stewed eels. Yum . But eels are too fussy for me. I don't like Bones in my food.

Fish stock with minced beef pie?? Sounds too much like Marmite does to me (i.e. let some b*gger else eat it).

Klunk,

Good rant.

Consider this.

There are quite a number of members on here for various reason will not disclose their location on their avatar.
That's fine and it is their choice but you are aware that should such a person post a photo on FB then all the information is available to all, such as when the photo was taken, where, such as in your backyard, including the navigational details to your home, AKA map coordinates.
By trawling fb a lot of information can be gleaned from your 'posts'.

Sounds far fetched, then ask why Law enforcement and other Govt agencies, at least here in Australia, are sounding warnings loud and clear about social media particularly fb.

Look it up.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Just because everyone else is jumping of the cliff, AKA joining fb, I am certainly not going to do so.

Try learning about face book setting ,it will blow your far fetched story out of the water

Oh for heavens sake if you dont like FB then dont bother posting about it who the heck wants to know....but all I will say is simple really I totally AGREE with Tug Cowboy as FB does work and will improve your standings and I'll g'tee you that we get MORE members.....but is seems some members on here are hell bent on knocking anything that is done to improve things....and some of the members on here are also hell bent on causing trouble....funny it is ALLWAYS THE SAME ONES.................

Martin and Ian you should be APPLAUDED for your sterling work....Keep it up

My personal view is yes we probably will get more members because of the FB link  , BUT as a platform it is not best suited to this type of activity .. Not complaining but a personal view to which I am entitled to air.. %) If others feel differently then all's well and good.. 8)

Inertia's  analogy using the great Marmite debate sums it up really..

:-)) Keep up the good work Martin,it is all part of evolution and as far I am concerned a very clever move and can only help promote this site,I have posted photo's of model boats on my FB account for many years and the amount of interest I got has been quite astonishing with many questions being asked and nobody saying anything adverse about it,so well done for this forward move,Ray. :-))

While I generally welcome this move I do wish some people would refrain from hitting the "like" link so often, especially, when the subject matter has no relevance to the main subject at hand; to be frank, I really couldn't give a rats bottom as to whether the Ginger Nut has taken over TG or that a GSM is retiring no matter what their service has been.

Thanx stav

The way I look at it is
A. if you like Facebook then Join the group on there.  With the added benefit of using the forum too

B. Mayhem forum is fantastic. It really is. But moving on with the times.  And aiming at maybe a younger generation like teens that are glued to Facebook. Phones. iPads. Laptops. Smart TV. You name it. It's got Facebook on it.
I think the Facebook branch of mayhem would benefit the model boat world with younger members
I may be totally wrong.  But I do know one thing.
Having an extra branch to climb. Isn't going to do any harm is it ?

As long as the branch is not rotten..
Why is it a closed group?
as I would have thought youngsters looking will not want to register, just to pop in and out of the site when suited.

Agreed, was on a miniature railway page who's shed had burnt down the other day, the post read "We are closed due to an unexpected fire" - six people said they liked it! There's nothing there to like!  :o
