3ch radio recommendation ?
« on: November 21, 2015, 12:46:45 pm »

Hi.
I've had a good think about my radio requirements and I'm sure I'll only ever need 3 channel. I do however need 2.4Ghz.
Can anyone recommend a steerwheel type 3ch radio in 2.4ghz thats a decent set ?

Thanks Rob

Depends on your Budget

These are all well respected and in use at my local RC Club

personally I'd go for the Spektrum one, its keenly priced and you can get cheaper "clone" receivers.

or if you want sticks then this takes a lot of beating

I have the Code stick set for RC car racing and its top notch

It really depends on your budget and what features you need

How much do you want to spend?

I'll need few features but I'd like a reliable set. I've been trying to track down a futaba 2.4 steerwheel set. I guess around the £50 mark as it wont get that much use

I've just started using this 3 channel unit from Banggood  - £17-£18 inc receiver ! (spare receivers £4.68)

AUSTAR AX5 3CH 2.4G Transmitter With Receiver For RC Car

http://www.banggood.com/AX5-3-Roles-2_4G-Transmitter-With-Receiver-For-RC-Car-p-943064.html

3 channels (3rd via simple push button on off).
I was impressed by the ability to limit the throw on each channel Left/Right  and Forwards/Reverse
there are trims and rate adjustments too - works fine in my club 500 !

well recommended

You'll be very lucky, m'duck! The cheapest one I could find (new) was over £100 more than that, and then there's the shipping and the VAT on importing it from China. You'll find that a 4 or even 5 channel 2G4 set with conventional sticks is much cheaper and it will be much easier to sell if you want/need to upgrade later.
Suit yourself.

Finally settled on what I think is a quality set at a good price. Managed to get hold of a new in box Sanwa SD-5D 5 channel 2.4 ghz set. Not the steerwheel type that I asked about but I think it will do me.
£40 posted seems a good deal
