HI ALL well ive been building that weird 3 inch gun turret an it has been most difficult due to all the angles involed but got there in the end but what could go wrong on this build DID an im not too happy with it as one of the tiny 1mm leds fitted in the gun barrels to simulate gun flash as packed up but one is still workin an i can get the the guns to elevate like on the big 6 inch gun turret but on this 3 inch the 2mm brass barrels are not heavy enough to come down via gravity so i will have to use the ole mark one finger to push the guns back down most dissapionted but the big gun works fine an both barrels flash amber light
well first pic is where i have fitted in the barrels the 1 mm leds

Hi Chris, if your barrels aren't quite heavy enough, one of your pics gave me a thought...  Have you tried a bit of elastic tied between your barrel pivots going under the back of the barrel in the turret?  Maybe a bit of haberdashery elastic or a small rubber band looks like it might give enough bias back to down position (not knowing how stiff your pivot is but it looks worth a try!)?  If you just use something like fishing line /thread to pull them up also -the band will pull them back down?

Maybe worth a try Chris, you've always got the option I said to you of another servomorph for your elevation if you want plug-in style  electrickery to do the job, or the option Umi talked about.

Coming together though.  I admire perseverance with anyone building big.  My attention span is far to skittish to finish big projects!
