an here is a pic of my enterprise orbiting a red giant star lol
That works!
Has a feel about it similar to 1970s-80s movie promotional material or a book cover illustration.

I didn't mean that it wasn't your model, I meant that is the flavor the finished image has to me.

Absolute superb detail here frogman3  :-)) ......one extra point ........ the flat green on the steel decks is amazing in blending into the background

Too many Warship models have the deck painting that screams out..... :o

You must be doing it right because the pictures are quickly bringing up memories of going on Dad's ships while he was in USN.  :}

Derek

HI Derek glad you like my detailin work on tiger an now with the safety railin fitted im pleased that im gettin towards the finishin line  but still a lot more to go on an be made an fitted as my wife jen helped me fit on them railing as she is intrested in helping me do this detailin work as she is a little diamon  an the paint i use in that flat green is really meant for aircraft but ive found its also good for ships decks unless the deck is wood but ive never built a ship with wood decks an very much appreicaited for the 10 /10 for realism that will help my mojo no end an keep me at the build as im really enjoyin it now most of the hard parts are done  O0 as ive now been building this model for over 3 yrs now an maybe another yr or two to the point of takin her on her maiden vouyge an i will be a bucket of nerves when that day comes as i have people who want to come an see her launched as they want to video her an put it on u tube but i bet some things wont work when i get to the pond :embarrassed:  as my car is a sport with hard supenshions an i feel every bump in our terrible british rd'd so i dont think it will be smooth sailin but just got to hope that i can fix whatever goes wrong up the pond as i must admit she is a bit complex in her  wirein an eletrics units an this is the most complex one ive ever built but if she will sail ok then it will be worth all the yrs of work ive put into her
ATB to you SIR

HI Again Derek yes the grey i use is sort of a blueish grey but me boaty m8's have talked about the correct colour to use on warships an i find that its all to do with how the sunlight catches the grey as in the dull its the same colour but get the sunshine rays on it an the blueish grey then stand out very clearly

For the last few years I've used Vallejo paints on USN vessels. The manual from USN is on https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=US+Navy+instructions+for+painting+and+cementing which gives the full spec.Vallejo do WW2 colour equivalents on https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=vallejo+wwii+naval+color+equivalents which may not be perfect but the basics look pretty good to me.

Hmm ...

"Section 4-H ANCHOR CHAIN. Anchor chain shall be painted black, formula 45."

So does that imply that Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup is made from Navy paint?

I think that the grey we use can be very much a matter of choice, I use BSI Light wetherwork grey which is the RN paint, just happened to have a gallon of it kicking about that got lost from HMS Illustrious {-) {-)
I also have it mixed as a spray.  If the builder thinks it looks ok then it probably is.
