Thanks RuneG, the stern gate is fixed as I did not see any advantage for the gate to drop. I will be putting a lot of detail onto the main net drum deck this will be seen from above.

A bit more progress, I decided to put on her first coat of primer to see how much more rubbing down was needed, quite pleased with the outcome the hours i have spent rubbing down has paid off

I wondered the same in a glancing thought a few weeks back, then after today's question......looked again

at the hull on the garden furniture & thought maybe 35 to 40kg?

Then remembered I had read the hull size & scale some time earlier
The vessel was listed as 16.2 metric tonnes and the scale was 1:60

Hope the batteries in my solar powered ABACUS are charged up
....so....16200 divided by the cube root of scale = 75kg .!!!!!!!!

Ballast question, when I first made the hull i checked her out in the bath (she just fit LOL) 25kg took her near enough to her water line. I decided at that stage she would need some permanent ballast, I fitted 12kg of lead under the net drum deck and two 12AH batteries 4kg each placed forward from midships and a 2kg block of lead was placed in the bow section, she was put back in the bath at this and she looked OK, I still have plenty of manoeuvrability for all the deck fittings she has.

The real trawler is 3862gt ( 80m overall length x 16m beam x 7.7m draft ) Derek and closer to 5200gt when full of fish.... your looking at a fishing trawler with a displacement close to that of the Type 23 Frigates but 53m shorter !!
Biggest trawler in the world though is the old Atlantic Dawn built for Ireland and now Dutch owned called the Annelies Ilena and she's 144.7m x 24.3m x 11.4m and 14,055gt empty and can carry 7,500t of fish....

I'm not sure what gross tonnage has to play with it as that is not really associated with displacement, nor solar power or abacuses but as I'm interested in this in the background I also worked out from curiosity beforehand it was somewhere about 30kg from what I could glean on-line from the model dimensions or the real thing but I might have been a bit high on guestimate block co-efficient. Never the less, a very impressive model it will make. I continue to watch in the background thanks! It reminds me standing watching the big boats moored at Peterhead (Denholm), while I was a few minutes quayside mobbing my adjacent DSV on the north Breakwater.

Small update on Research, got some of the paintwork done and redone the hawsers, the top section is white but this will be done at a later stage.
