does 2.4gig radio work in submarines

Hi all,
Does anyone know if 2.4 gig radio works underwater as I want to change over to 2.4gig but will my submarine work

From what I have been told , the jury is still out on this one, and the only way would be to try it and see !. :o

I would say no ,or not as well , for underwater Com's they tend to use VLF (very low freq) as far as I know. the higher the freq the more line of sight and water acts as an obstruction.

No it does not work at all. 2.4Ghz is too close to the resonant frequency of water. If your TX was pumping out silly amounts of watts you may get a signal (but then I wouldn't want to be stainding too close  :)

sounds interesting ,
so if you cant controll your sub with a 2.4gb set ,you can at least dip your antenna in your cup and keep your tea warm  ;D
