Radio system recommendation please
« on: May 29, 2021, 02:21:36 pm »

Can anyone recommend a suitable 2.4GHz system please?

I am looking for a mode 2 system without a spring to self-centre the throttle (0 throttle at the lowest point of travel, 100% at the top with no need for reverse).

I need a minimum of 2 channels, but am happy to consider systems with 4 or more.

Many thanks.

Or one of these - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking-2-4ghz-mode-2-4ch-tx-rx-v2.html?___store=en_usb - very similar.
Mechanical trim rather than digital, switches rather than programming.  These can be either advantages or disadvantages depending on your outlook.

Buyers of radio outfits fall broadly into 3 categories. Someone who needs a specific set of functions for a model, people who love lots of extras, whether needed or not, and buyers of a simple switch on and go set. The hobbyking V2 is used by many people that I know, it's just a modern version of the kind of set sold 20 to 30 years ago. I've never seen one go wrong , it's very basic, and just made to make the model steer and go.  I actually prefer mine to my Spektrum outfit, ( quicker binding at switch on, better pots on the sticks). If that's all you need, it's very good.
Re the throttle stick, every radio I've used can have the spring removed from the self centering so the stick can be left fully down if you want.

Hi Spearfish99
Banggood have the Flysky I6 which is the same as the Hobbyking Turnigy IA6.
I have both and the receivers work on both.

Yes, I knew they were the same apart from badges.  I have 3 of the Turnigy versions and almost everyone in my club has at least one of them.  Since I only sail yachts now, I have taken to using Hobbyking's GT2 waterproof receivers.  They are only 3 channel, which is fine for yachts , and they don't have the telemetry option   which I can live without. They are as cheap as chips and very compact.
