« on: June 17, 2006, 10:46:21 pm »

Hi, got a hull for a K-Class sub, 2 parts hull and deck it is 53 inches long and has not got swan bow and a rather large bit of moulding on the deck aft, could it be the minelayer version? what number and what scale at this length. Any help is welcome.

At 53 inches the scale should be 1/72 for the K class.? The moulding on the deck could be the extension to the conning tower where the funnels were mounted.? These subs were originally constructed (at least the earlier ones) without the swan bows. I am not aware of any minelayer versions of the K class, although? M3 was altered from carrying a 12 inch gun to a minelayer in 1927.? It is also possible your hull is for an M class, but then the length doesn't match any of the usual scales.

Is there any way you can post a photo of it?

I agree with Paxton. Have a look at this site for some pics:

Where on earth did that hull from ? - I didn't know anyone made them!

Hi. Thanks for the info. I have got the mould, it is a bit shaggy, but with filler and elbowgrease it can be made in to a usuful hull. I will never have it diving, perhabs as a surface runner. Will try to make a mould for the basic superstructure or some templates.LOL ;D
